Why do we race? This is an age-old question and the answer is we have an inner need to go faster and be efficient in the things we see and do. In its first year, 2017, Race 49’s average speed was 186 mph. In 2019, we were the fastest qualifier for the “Classic Racers,” which is basically a Stock Class. Our race average was 200 mph. The change was about 14 mph which is huge considering there are no modifications to the engine or propeller. Each race year we strive to improve our speed and performance, which brings us to why the 49th Support Squadron is so important. The basic needs for any Race Team are financial support, along with an avenue to a personal connection with Race 49. Miss Ellaneous provides that avenue through the 49th Support Squadron and we are asking that you not only support us but, also include yourself as an important link to all of our successes and our continued efforts to be able to participate in the Reno Air Races this year and in the future.
